A poster exhibit celebrating the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Perge in Turkey. The capital of ancient Pamphylia, Perge contains impressive remains, especially of the Hellenistic, Imperial Roman, and Late Roman periods. With continuous Istanbul University exploration of the site since 1946, the project now celebrates its 65th anniversary, making it the longest-running all-Turkish excavation in the country. Dr. Inci Delemen, a long-time member of the excavation team, will be presenting an associate lecture on October 26th (see separate listing).
The exhibit is presented free and open to the public, and viewing is from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. for the three days of the display.
The exhibit is co-sponsored by the American Friends of Turkey, the Turkish-American Cultural Society of New England, and the Department of Archaeology at Boston University.
