The Committee is seeking nominations by Monday, September 15 for the Martha and Artemis Joukowsky Distinguished Service Award. A description of the award is as follows:
“The … Award is to be granted to those AIA members who, through their sustained and exceptional volunteer efforts, have furthered the work of the Institute and increased public awareness regarding its mission. Nominees for this award should have provided exceptional service to the Institute at the national level or at both the national and the local levels. Please consider nominating AIA members who have:
This list is not exhaustive, but nominees should have made meaningful contributions at the national level. Primarily local service is more appropriate for the Foot Soldier Award.
Nominations require 2–3 letters of support, so coordination with other members or societies may be necessary. You may contact the candidate directly for a CV, or consult their academic or personal website. Review their national-level activities when drafting your nomination.
If you feel you merit consideration, seek the support of fellow members or local officers. Examples of past recipients are available on the AIA website.
Letters of recommendation may be submitted by email or as an attachment to awards@archaeological.org. If you have questions, please contact the Chair of the Committee, Bill Murray, at murray@usf.edu. And please remember that the deadline for nominations is Monday September 15, 2025.
