Photos from the AIA Central Missouri Society’s Booth at the Columbia Young Scientist Expo (Columbia, MO) on February 28th! Caitlyn Pallas (Treasurer) and Kurtis Butler (member) ran the chocolate chip excavations.
On February 28, the Central Missouri (Columbia) Society of the AIA had a booth at a local event, the “Columbia Young Scientist Expo.” The Columbia Young Scientists (CYS) Expo is an annual event at the University of Missouri that promotes STEM for people of all ages–the event is public and available to all ages and features university, local, and state scientists, organizations, and clubs.
Society Officer Caitlyn Pallas worked with fellow officers and members to organize the Society’s fun and educational booth! The AIA Central Missouri Society Booth had chocolate chip cookie excavations, a stratigraphy poster activity, ancient vase coloring, and mosaic making activities.
The event as a whole had more than 600 attendees and the Society booth gave out nearly 300 cookies! The Society was also happily surprised to see that their stratigraphy poster activity was of particular interest to older children.
The Society is planning to have a booth again next year with even more fun activities!
