RE:      AIA RECEIVES KRESS FOUNDATION SUPPORT FOR PUBLICATIONS

The AIA has been awarded a five-year grant from the Samuel H. Kress Foundation.

The Archaeological Institute of America (AIA) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a five-year grant from the Samuel H. Kress Foundation to support scholarly research and publication on Classical art and architecture. The generous assistance of the Samuel H. Kress Foundation will make important archaeological research possible.

Funding from the Kress Foundation has long aided the AIA in encouraging and promoting scholarship and the dissemination of research through the AIA’s Selected Papers on Ancient Art and Architecture (SPAAA) and the Samuel H. Kress Grant for Research and Publication in Classical Art and Architecture. Kress Foundation support will make it possible for the AIA to continue publishing SPAAA, which collects outstanding papers on topics related to Classical art history and architecture that are presented each year at the AIA Annual Meeting. In addition, funding also allows for the AIA to award the Samuel H. Kress Grant for Research and Publication in Classical Art and Architecture to fund publication preparation, or research leading to publication, undertaken by professional members of the AIA. Its purpose is to assist scholars in preparing, completing and publishing results of their research in Classical art and architecture.

Further details about the Selected Papers on Ancient Art and Architecture (SPAAA) are available here.

Application information for the AIA’s Samuel H. Kress Grant for Research and Publication in Classical Art and Architecture is available online.
