Yannis Georgiou

Yannis Georgiou was born in Patras in 1970. In 1993 he graduated from the department of Archaeology and History of Art at the University of Athens with a First Class result. From 1994 to 1999 he studied classical archaeology, the archaeology of the Ancient Near East, and Egyptology at Heidelberg University with a DAAD postgraduate scholarship. He is now undertaking his doctorate at the Institute of Classical Archaeology of Heidelberg University, studying the pithos burials of the Minoan cemetery at Phourni, Archanes. He has been a member of the Zominthos excavation since 1989.
