Start the New Year by Attending An AIA Lecture Near You!

More than 100 years after it was founded in honor of the AIA’s first President, Charles Eliot Norton, the Norton Lectureship continues to bring distinguished scholars to audiences throughout the country. This season’s Norton lecturer is Dr. Nancy Wilkie, the William H. Laird Professor of Classics at Carleton College in Minnesota, and past president of the AIA. Dr. Wilkie will present the challenges facing archaeologists in remote areas of the world, including Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Grevena in Greece. Dr. Wilkie began her career studying classical and Greek prehistory, but soon expanded her interests to include archaeology in southern Asia and the cultural property issues that face today’s scholars. Don’t miss the chance to hear Dr. Wilkie share her experiences studying and visiting these fascinating regions and topics.

In over 100 locations in the United States and Canada, the AIA brings you lectures on countless topics—from Viking longships and Kublai Khan’s lost fleet, to the Silk Road and the Holy Land. Visit the Great Pyramid, a Roman arena, ancient Costa Rica, and the oracle at Delphi, and get involved as archaeologists share their discoveries with you.

Visit www.archaeological.org/lectures for a full listing of lectures, and contact your local AIA society or call 617-358-4184 for more information on events near you.
