In 1999 Ira Haupt II established this annual lectureship for the New York City Society. Mr. Haupt served as a General Trustee of the AIA and on the Development and Finance committees as well as the treasurer of the New York City society. Mr. Haupt’s grandfather, Adolph, arrived in New York City in 1876, at age eleven. The Haupts have made New York their home since then and are happy to contribute to the cultural life of the city through this lectureship.
