Join us for a talk by Professor Elizabeth Colontoni, in partnership with the Rochester Society of the Archaeological Institute of America.

Nestled in the Sabine hills of central Italy, Trebula Mutuesca was a thriving place two thousand years ago. During the time of the Roman Empire, the site was famous for its temple to the Italic goddess Feronia, and it also featured a monumental amphitheater which would have drawn thousands of spectators from the surrounding countryside. In this talk, Elizabeth Colantoni, Associate Professor of Classics at the University of Rochester, will introduce the site and present discoveries from the 2024-2026 archaeological excavations at Trebula Mutuesca, which are sponsored by the town of Monteleone Sabino and the Trebula Mutuesca Archaeological Museum in collaboration with the University of Rochester and the University of Missouri.
