16 students received AIA Field School Scholarships in 2025. Made possible through the Jane C. Waldbaum Archaeological Field School Scholarships and the newly established American School of Prehistoric Research Scholarships and Laura Obolensky Scholarships, these awards support emerging archaeologists as they gain hands-on experience at sites across the globe. Stay tuned as we highlight their stories and share updates from the field!

Advice for future scholarship winners going on their first digs?
Especially if you’re going on a dig in a remote location, I recommend directly contacting your field school directors and coordinators for more information than the website or application materials may have about daily life at the site. Be sure you know what to expect about amenities, food, and weather. If you’ll have limited opportunities to go shopping after arrival, bring extra sun protection, snacks, and warm layers. If possible, stay in the area/city/country for a few days before and after to explore a new place!
