Deadline: April 30, 2019

Application Process

The Scholarship Programme is one of the Foundation’s top priorities. Its aim is to support young scientists and students from Cyprus and Greece who wish to undertake postgraduate studies (Master or PhD) in any scientific field, but with Cyprus as the thematic axis of their dissertation. The main prerequisite therefore is that the island of Cyprus is the central theme of the postgraduate thesis or doctoral dissertation, regardless of subject matter. It could, for example, be related to the history, geography, culture or society of Cyprus.

The scholarships are addressed to Greek and Cypriot graduates of Greek or Cypriot universities with a degree of at least eight (8) and up to 33 years of age.

The scholarship is for financial support with a fixed amount, irrespective of tuition or university, and is renewable annually for a maximum duration of three (3) years. The number of scholarships and the amount available per year depends on the interest that will emerge and the potential of the Sylvia Ioannou Foundation. Scholars may look for other sources of funding for their studies.

The new, 7th Scholarship Programme for the academic year 2019-2020 opens in 1st of March 2019. The final submission date is 30 April 2019, and the results will be announced in July 2019.

The detailed terms and procedures are available here.

The Board of Directors of the Sylvia Ioannou Foundation wishes good luck to all candidates.
