“For U.S. citizens who are doctoral candidates having completed all PhD requirements except the dissertation and postdoctoral scholars at all levels. Applicants are eligible to apply as individuals or in teams. Scholars must carry out research for a minimum of 90 days in two or more countries outside the United States, at least one of which hosts a participating American overseas research center.
