The lecture will present the East Bohemian castle Kosumberk as a monument representing medieval elite lifestyle. Archaeologist Jan Musil will present its architectural development and relevant archaeological research.

The lecture will present recent archaeological excavation of Svojanov castle. The archaeologists Miroslava Cejpová and Lucie Čiháčková will introduce you to the history of the castle as well as to the newest results of the research.

Current monument care deals with a lot of problems. Medieval structures, so numerous in the Czech Republic, suffer a lot and an examination of current conditions allows us to help these monuments to survive. Together with the project of saving and making the castle palace of Helfštýn accessible, a program of archaeological research was carried out.
