Freshly dug soil on an evaluation trench spoil heap steams in the summer sun near City Way, Sunderland, Tyne & Wear England, as trenches and sieved test pits are dug by Green Man Archaeology. Lithics, including microliths, were recovered which are thought to have been left by Mesolithic hunter-gatherers visiting a nearby carr.
