- Two public lectures each by Dr. Jodi Magness (University of North Carolina/Chapel Hill) and Dr. Anna Roosevelt (University of Illinois/Chicago) on Friday and Saturday

- Lab and Repository tours at the Office of the State Archaeologist, Museum of Natural History, and the Departments of Classics and Anthropology at the University of Iowa 

-Big Tent educational outreach event outside the Museum of Natural History on Saturday featuring exhibits on Iowa's prehistoric and historic past, atlatl dart throwing, flint knapping demonstrations, interactive Native American children's games. The State Archaeologist of Iowa will be present for conversations.

- Johnson County (Iowa) Historical Society Museum will feature an exhibit and presentation on new University of Iowa research on the 1830s Gilberts Trading Post and the Patterson Trading Post (Iowa County); display of local Hurt Artifact Collection; presentation on artifact care; interactive tour of the Oakdale Cemetery; and tour/open house at Plum Grove, Iowa city residence of Iowa's first governor

- The Iowa Archaeology Society Fall Meeting will be held in conjunction with National Archaeology Day at the Museum of Natural History on Saturday.
