Tour of Civil War Fortifications on Fort Eustis

The Fort Eustis Archaeology Program will conduct a tour of the installation’s Civil War fortifications. These earthen fortifications were constructed in 1861-1862 as part of Confederate General John B. Magruder’s defense of the Peninsula. These are some of the best preserved earthen field fortifications in eastern Virginia. J

Join us as we examine these exceptionally well preserved Civil War sites. Tour will start in the 18th century Matthew Jones House @ 10:00
