The Florida Public Archaeology Network, East Central Region held a volunteer open lab on International Archaeology Day. This lab was hosted by the Oakland Nature Preserve to aid the Communities of Lake Apopka Artifact Survey Project (CLAASP) in documenting unprovenanced artifacts from around Lake Apopka in Central Florida. The monthly lab allows community members and students to hone their skills for identifying artifacts as well as better understand the process of lab work in archaeology. It also promotes a key mission of FPAN, to educate the public on Florida archaeology.
