2025 IAD Grant Recipients Announced

We’re pleased to announce the recipients of this year’s International Archaeology Day Grants! These grants help AIA Local Societies host events associated with International Archaeology Day 2025, celebrated on Saturday, October 18 this year, along with events throughout the month of October.

The 2025 IAD Grants were awarded to the following Societies for their IAD celebrations:

• The Rochester Society hosted an early International Archaeology Day celebration at the Rochester Museum and Science Center on October 4
  
• The Gainesville Society hosted a celebratory IAD lunch with the lecturer Dr. Gabriel Prieto and  held an associated lecture on October 8
  
• The Richmond Society celebrated IAD with a public lecture: “Using Archaeology to Reveal the Intellectual Contributions of the Enslaved: Archaeology at Montpelier” on October 16
  
• The St. Louis Society celebrated IAD with their International Archaeology Day event on October 18
  
• The Tampa Bay Society hosted a Student Research Symposium to celebrate IAD on October 18
  
• The Charlottesville Society held their IAD event, Egypt and Nubia: Celebrate Archaeology! event at the Fralin Museum of Art, on October 18
  
• The Princeton Society hosted their “Color the Past” event at the Princeton Public Library on October 18
  
• The Narragansett Society celebrated IAD through their Community Archaeology Day on October 18
  
• The Nashville Society hosted their International Archaeology Day at the Nashville Parthenon on October 18
  
• The Western Massachusetts Society hosted their International Archaeology Day Fair on October 18
  
• The Atlanta Society celebrated IAD with their “DigIT” event at the Emory University Carlos Museum on October 18
  
• The San Joaquin Valley Society hosted their “Archaeology in a Bonsai Garden” event at The Clark Bonsai Museum on October 19
  
• The Milwaukee Society hosted an IAD celebratory Coffee with AIA National Lecturer Dr. Pearce Paul Creaseman for UWM Students and invite all to join them for their AIA National Lecture later that day on October 19
  
• The East Tennessee (Knoxville) Society invited families of all ages to join their “Can You Dig it?” event at the McClung Museum on Oct 19
  
• The Akron-Kent Society invites you to their International Archaeology Day lecture, “Unearthing Sentinum: Discoveries from a Roman City in Italy’s Marche Region” on October 21
  
• The Edmonton Society will be celebrating IAD at the University of Alberta with their Archaeology Day event on October 25
  
• The Spokane Society is hosting an archaeology book club and are celebrating International Archaeology Day with the inaugural meeting on Sunday, October 26
  
• The Walla Walla Society is celebrating IAD with their “Preserving Cultural Heritage & Uncovering Hidden History: USACE Walla Walla Archaeology” lecture on October 30
