Undergraduate Teaching Award 
The AIA recognizes an exemplary undergraduate educator every year through our Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award. This year, the committee has streamlined the process to be simpler and easier for colleagues to nominate their peers for the award. If you have a colleague who you believe deserves recognition, check out the award page for details. The initial nominations for the Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award are due February 15!

Advocacy Alert: Preserving Bolivia, Egypt, and Greece
Your experience matters! Join our letter writing campaign to save a place you love. The Cultural Property Advisory Committee will meet to discuss new requests from Bolivia, Egypt, and Greece to renew their bilateral agreements that protects their cultural resources from being illegally imported into the United States. If you appreciate the cultural heritage of Bolivia, Egypt, and/or Greece, YOU can help preserve the past this month. Check out our newspage to learn more ahead of the February 20 letter deadline.  

Field School Scholarship 
Attention all first-time field school students: the deadline for the Archaeological Field School Scholarship is fast approaching. This funding can be used to help cover the costs associated with an archaeological field school, such as tuition, travel, and other expenses. The scholarship is open to all undergraduate juniors, seniors, and first-year graduate students who have never participated in a field school before. Apply online by Sunday, March 1.

Book Award Deadlines 
The deadlines for the AIA’s Anna Marguerite McCann Award for Fieldwork Reports and James R. Wiseman Book Award are quickly approaching! If you published an academic work or field report between 2022-2026, you may be eligible for the Wiseman or McCann Awards. Check out our website to learn more! 

Publication Subvention Grant  
The AIA welcomes applications for publication subvention grants from AIA’s von Bothmer Publication Fund to support of new book-length publications in the field of Classical Archaeology (defined as Greek, Roman, and Etruscan archaeology and art history). Particularly welcome are projects that publish the work of first-time authors or represent the publication of final reports of primary data from sites already excavated or surveyed, but are still unpublished. Apply online by Sunday, March 1.

Call for Applications for Teaching Ancient in a Digital Age (NEH Institute)
Teaching Ancient in a Digital Age is an NEH-funded institute (May–October 2026) designed to expand digital literacy for educators in ancient Mediterranean studies. Through virtual sessions (May and Sept/Oct 2026) and an in-person workshop at Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA (August 2026), participants will explore digital methods, emerging technologies, and ethical considerations for studying ancient texts and material evidence.

Eligible participants receive a $3,450 stipend to support travel and lodging costs.
