Between annual meetings of the Council, the Governing Board holds full authority for the management and operation of the Institute. The Board is responsible for approving the annual budget, overseeing investments and the endowment, and guiding fundraising efforts.
The Governing Board meets three times each year and is composed of seven Officers and 24–30 Trustees elected by the Council. Trustees serve in one of three divisions—General Trustees, Academic Trustees, and Society Trustees—reflecting the AIA’s diverse membership and constituencies.
