Archaeology Day Event in Louisiana

The Ascension Parish Library in Galvez, Louisiana hosted the Chatsworth Plantation Archaeological Project on International Archaeology Day.  Julie A. Doucet, Archaeological Consultant with the Register of Professional Archaeologists, presented a talk on the historical background of Chatsworth Plantation, a historic sugar plantation in use from about 1830-1930.  Her presentation touched on the sugar era in Louisiana with an introduction on the history of sugar worldwide as well as in Louisiana.  The talk concluded with images of field work and artifacts uncovered so far.
