The AIA-Riverside and Inland Southern California Society and the Riverside County Parks Department held an Archaeology Expo on October 17, at the Hidden Valley Nature Center. Over 475 people attended the event with 25 exhibits and three speakers, and participated in a variety of archaeological activities. Archaeologists from CRM firms, academic institutions, and government agencies led activities that included throwing atlatls, demonstrating how drones are used in archaeology, using total stations and grids to map archaeological sites, and discovering how archaeologists and law enforcement forensic experts use some of the same skills to decipher the past.
