Celebrate National Archaeology Day at Pueblo Grande Museum

by Pueblo Grande Museum

Central Arizona AIA volunteers helping our Mudslingers with platform mound preservation during last year's National Archaeology Day.

Join the Pueblo Grande Museum on October 20, 2012 in celebrating the 2nd Annual National Archaeology Day.  The Museum will be offering demonstrations of preservation and conservation methods used on our prehistoric Hohokam platform mound by our volunteer Mudslinging group in collaboration with the Central Arizona Society of the Archaeological Institute of America. There will also be a free Archaeology for Kids program from 9am to 12pm, where children can learn about archaeology by doing a simulated excavation of a Hohokam pithouse.

Cooking demonstrations by the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community Huhugam Ki Museum will be along the ruin trail.  Complimentary tours of the Museum and archaeological site will be available through the morning.  Pueblo Grande Museum will also be offering free museum admission all day to celebrate National Archaeology Day.  For more information on this event, visit our website at www.pueblogrande.com or call us at 602-495-0901. Visit the event listing on the NAD Calendar too!
