Connecticut celebrates International Archaeology Day with a Fair

Flintknapping Demo

On International Archaeology Day 2013 the Friends of the Office of State Archaeology and the Archaeological Society of Connecticut sponsored an Archaeology Fair in Wethersfield, CT. This event was free and open to the public. Fifteen organizations set up booths, four speakers gave talks on local archaeology fieldschool projects, and there were a few demonstrations. This year’s focus was on kids’ activities. Flintknappers gave demonstrations, a faunal expert had various animal bones on display, and there was even an archaeology mini golf course. They are looking forward to Wesleyan University hosting the 2014 Archaeology Fair during Connecticut’s Archaeology Awareness Month in October
