Archaeology Day

Celebrate International Archaeology Day at Mt. Pleasant Regional Library. Meet local archaeologists and learn about historical discoveries in the Charleston area. Call 843-849-6161 for more information.

12-1 p.m. – “Uncovering Stono Plantation” presented by Ron Anthony of the Charleston Museum.
Learn about the Charleston Museum’s work at the Dill Sanctuary’s Stono Plantation, and see artifacts found at the site.

1:30-2:30 p.m. – “Inside the Walled City” presented by Katherine Pemberton of the Historic Charleston Foundation.
Discover the work of the Mayor’s Walled City Task Force and how it’s raised awareness of colonial fortifications and local archaeology.

3-6 p.m. – “What the Heck Is It?” presented by Dr. Eric Poplin of Brockington and Associates.
Drop in with an artifact of unknown origin for identification by an expert archaeologist. Even if you don’t have an object, come learn about others’ objects!
