VIRTUAL - Kill the Rabbit: Early Human Exploitation of Small Game in Paleolithic France

March 17, 2021 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm PDT

This is an online event.

AIA Society: San Francisco

Recent archaeological studies in the Mediterranean have brought to light new and exciting evidence of the diets of Neanderthals and other archaic humans. Dr. Jacqueline Meier will present the findings of her recent collaborative research on small game exploitation at some of the earliest Paleolithic archaeological sites in southeastern France to reconsider the notion that Neanderthals exclusively hunted big game. This presentation will focus on the archaeological remains of rabbits and the re-analysis of older museum collections of fauna, which yield new insights into early human life-ways.
