¡Los invitamos a participar en una actividad que explorará la historia y arte de los tejidos mayas, en honor al Día Internacional de la Arqueología!
Durante este taller de 1 hora, los participantes aprenderán sobre los textiles mayas, utilizando ejemplos vistos en monumentos antiguos de piedra y en vasijas cerámicas. Luego, los invitaremos a elegir y colorear su propio diseño de textil entre varios diseños proporcionados por los líderes del taller, para que creen su propia versión de un textil antiguo. Los participantes podrán imprimir los ejemplos desde su casa para colorear durante el taller, o podrán descargar una aplicación en su tablet o celular para subir las imágenes, y colorearlas en su dispositivo – ¡les enseñaremos cómo!
Esta actividad se realizará en línea a través de la plataforma Zoom, y está dirigida a familias con niños y jóvenes entre los 5 y 13 años de edad. El taller está abierto al público general y es gratuito, sin embargo se requiere la inscripción con un día de anticipación como mínimo. Join us for an International Archaeology Day activity as we explore the history and art of Maya textiles! During this 1-hour workshop, participants will learn about textiles in Maya art, from examples depicted on ancient stone monuments and ceramic pots. Then you will be invited to choose and color a unique textile design from templates provided by workshop leaders to create your personal, colorful version of an ancient pattern. Participants can print templates at home to color during the workshop, or they can download a suggested coloring app on a tablet or cell phone and upload templates to color – we’ll show you how!
This activity will be held as a live Zoom meeting for families with children ages 5-13. The workshop is free but registration is required.
