Each fall the Archaeological Society of South Carolina sponsors a free gathering of archaeologists, prehistoric and historic skills demonstrators, story tellers, and others, who present how the people of South Carolina’s distant and recent pasts experienced their daily lives through work, play, food, and community.

Come to the History Workshop today and have fun puzzling pieces of broken pottery back together. Work together to put cups, plates, mugs and bowls back together with tape. Learn how archaeologists use this process in the lab to learn more about the time period and the people they are studying.
Learn about the advent of pottery in Florida, and do hands-on experimentation using play-doh to explore pottery-making and -decorating technology. The lesson also teaches about how pottery can help archaeologists understand a site and its prehistoric people.
