Hands-on Discovery at the Marco Island Historical Museum

Archaeological digging and sifting interactive activity.

In honor of International Archaeology Day, the Marco Island Historical Museum hosted “Family Archaeology Day” on October 19, 2013 from 11 am to 2 pm.  Families had the opportunity to create unique Calusa Indian masks and learn the techniques of pottery and bracelet making. With the help of real archaeologists, children were also able to sift through ancient sands looking for local archaeological treasures using the tools of the trade.
