International Archaeology Day Celebration in Downtown St. Louis

AIA members and the public learn about the historic archaeology of St. Louis

The AIA-St. Louis Society hosted International Archaeology Day at 700 North 1st Street in downtown St. Louis. This location was excavated in 2011 (http://users.stlcc.edu/mfuller/laclede.html) and yielded very interesting results about the historic archaeology of St. Louis. Artifacts from this site and two other historic sites (Whitehaven NPS site and Millersburg Church site) were shown and discussed with the public. Professor Douglas Scott (University of Nebraska) presented a lecture on Historic Archaeological Discoveries west of the Mississppi.
