Iowa City Holds Fair for National Archaeology Day

AIA-Iowa Society’s National Archaeology Day Fair opened with a lecture by Steven and Kathleen Holen of the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.  After the lecture participants were able to tour the University of Iowa faculty and Office of the State Archaeologist labs as well as see Puebloan pottery from the University of Iowa Museum of Art and try their hand at flint-knapping, atlatls, and carving slate plaques. Many left the successful event with copies of Archaeology magazine provided by the Society!
