AIA Lecturer: Gary Rollefson

Affiliation: Whitman College

Professor Gary Rollefson is with the Department of Anthropology, Whitman College. He received his degrees from the University of California at Berkeley, and the University of Arizona at Tucson (M.A. and Ph.D.), and his areas of specialization are paleolithic and neolithic stone tools, prehistoric religion and social organization, and paleoclimate and its effect on social development. He has conducted fieldwork in Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Israel, and his main publications include “Prehistoric Archaeology in the Deserts of Jordan” (2009, American Center of Oriental Research). He is the AIA’s 2009/2010 Kershaw Lecturer.
