Museum of New Mexico’s Office of Archaeological Studies Help Visitors to Experience New Mexico’s Past through Archaeology

The Office of Archaeological Studies offered visitors a hands-on experience.

The Office of Archaeological Studies, in collaboration with the Santa Fe Chapter of the Archaeological Institute of America and other organizations in northern New Mexico, celebrated National Archaeology Day by hosting an open house at the newly opened Center for New Mexico Archaeology. Visitors had the opportunity to tour the new building which serves as the primary storage facility for New Mexico’s archaeological collections as well as the offices and working research laboratories of the Office of Archaeological Studies. Visitors of all ages experienced New Mexico’s unique 14,000 year cultural heritage through a wide range of hands-on activities, demonstrations, and interactions with archaeologists.
