Education

Welcome! Whether you’re a teacher, museum educator, homeschooler, or simply passionate about sharing archaeology with others, the AIA offers a wide range of resources to support your work.

We partner with archaeologists, educators, museum staff, and other specialists to develop engaging and flexible educational materials you can use in classrooms, at home, or in public programs. Our resources help explain:

  • How archaeological sites are discovered, excavated, and interpreted
  • What archaeology is
  • What archaeologist do

You’ll find a variety of resources and downloadable lesson plans and activities that can be tailored to different grade levels and learning environments. Topics include:

  • Conducting small-scale simulated digs
  • Re-creating ancient costumes
  • Planning and hosting a Roman feast

These hands-on activities are designed to make archaeology interactive, educational, and fun—while building skills in observation, critical thinking, and historical inquiry.
