Quincy Quarry and Granite Workers Museum Celebrates International Archaeology Day


The Quincy Quarry and Granite Workers Museum participated in International Archaeology Day on Saturday October 5 at the Granite Railway Company’s Inclined Plane Railway, built in 1828 by Gridley Bryant to bring granite down from Pine Hill Ledge. The railway was used to connect to the Granite Railway – the first commercial railroad incorporated in America.The day long event featured a tour of the Inclined Plane Railway along with historical photos and artifacts related to the granite industry and about 55 people attended. Visit their web site www.quincyquarrymuseum.org
