Two Arizona Parks Team Up for National Archaeology Day Event

On October 7, 2012 Tubac Presidio State Historic Park and Tumacacori National Historical Park will collaborate to provide special tours of two unique archaeological sites.  The first stop will be a morning tour with Philip Halpenny and Gwen Griffin of the colonial archaeological site south of the Presidio that preserves the original 1752 Tubac town site.  After a bring-your-own picnic lunch, archaeologist Jeremy Moss will give a special archaeological tour of Tumacacori mission, which was established by Father Kino in January 1691, making it the oldest mission site in Arizona.
