On May 7, the Walla Walla Society of the AIA, in conjunction with Whitman College, hosted a screening of “La Chimera” (2023).
The Society first hosted a reception with light refreshments. After, Society President Sarah Davies gave a brief lecture with a food-for-thought presentation about the Etruscans and the symbolisms involved connecting mirrors, the afterlife, and past with the present. Attendees then watched the film, and Sarah Davies said that “Attendees loved the film (there were audible laughs and gasps throughout)!”
More than 40 people attended and several attendees reached out later to express their gratitude and to share their appreciation of the film and the joyful sense of community that the event provided. The Society is looking to host more events like this in the future, and is hoping to find more films that will elicit such a positive response.
