You are invited to join AIA lecturer and host Dr. Elizabeth Pierce for this fascinating cruise
during the best time of year, when the weather is mild and days are long—a unique voyage that
can only be accomplished aboard a small ship, exploring lands where ancient stone monuments
and castles present an enigmatic, imposing face to the world.

Cruise Scotland’s Hebrides, Orkney, and Shetland Islands; call at the wonderful Scandinavian
city of Bergen; and marvel at the wild Norwegian fjords, ending in Copenhagen. In the remote
Outer Hebrides, visit the fascinating archaeological sites of Callanish, 5,000-year-old standing
stones; and Dun Carloway, a Pictish broch. In the Orkneys, explore the renowned Neolithic
sites of the standing stones of Stenness, the Ring of Brodgar, and the 5,000-year-old village of
Skara Brae. In the Shetlands, explore the extraordinary settlement of Jarlshof, revealing layers of
human history from late Neolithic stone houses to Norse longhouses to a medieval farmstead and
beyond. Continue along ancient shipping lanes of the Vikings across the North Sea to historic
Bergen and, en route to Copenhagen, cruise through some of the finest scenery Scandinavia has to
offer—deep-blue fjords, forested cliffs, and rustic coastal villages.
