Public Archaeology at the Maison Freetown Site

Would you like to learn more about the history of Lafayette through archaeology? Join us for a day of shovel testing and artifact screening as we dig deeper into the Freetown National Historic District at Maison Creole de Freetown! These investigations hope to provide artifacts for the Freetown Museum, curated on site by the True Friends of Lafayette organization.

What to wear: closed-toe shoes, and clothes that can get dirty. Hats and sunscreen are a good idea. Please bring your own water and snacks, and gloves if you have them. We will provide trowels and shovels but feel free to bring your own.
