Call for Applications for Teaching Ancient in a Digital Age (NEH Institute)
Teaching Ancient in a Digital Age is an NEH-funded institute (May–October 2026) designed to expand digital literacy for educators in ancient Mediterranean studies. Through virtual sessions (May and Sept/Oct 2026) and an in-person workshop at Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA (August 2026), participants will explore digital methods, emerging technologies, and ethical considerations for studying ancient texts and material evidence.

Eligible participants receive a $3,450 stipend to support travel and lodging costs.

Book Award Deadlines 
Nominate a book by an AIA member or fieldwork reports published between 2022 and 2025 for these two prestigious awards! The James R. Wiseman Book Award is awarded each year to a book written for academic audiences that makes a significant contribution to the field.  The Anna Marguerite McCann Award for Fieldwork Reports recognizes an outstanding monograph that presents results from an archaeological field project. Be sure to send in your nominations before Sunday, March 15! 

Graduate students, get your abstracts ready! 
The Call for Papers for the 2027 Annual Meeting has been released with the theme of Care and Mutual Aid. Graduate students are encouraged to submit an abstract for consideration and reminded to select that they are interested in being considered for the Graduate Student Paper Award.  

The deadlines to submit an abstract can be found on the Annual Meeting page, so start preparing now as the first deadline for consideration is later this month on March 23! 

*NEW* Khaled al-Asaad Memorial Fellowship 
A fellowship in honor of Khaled al-Assad for foreign scholars to travel to North America and present at the AIA Annual Meeting. Step 1 is to submit an abstract to the 2027 AIA Annual Meeting by the March 23/April 6 deadline. Learn more about the fellowship here.

Elizabeth Bartman Museum Internship Deadline 
Do you know students looking to participate in a museum internship this summer? The Elizabeth Bartman Museum Internship provides financial support for students and recent master’s graduates who are participating in a museum internship in the U.S. or abroad. Deadline to apply is Wednesday, April 1. Learn more about this scholarship and apply on our website and be sure to share this information with your students!

Lift up your colleagues by recognizing them for their hard work! The AIA’s Outstanding Public Service Award has a deadline of Wednesday, April 1 and the Pomerance Award for Scientific Contributions to Archaeology has a new deadline of Monday, June 1.
