Thank you to all who participated in the 2012 National Archaeology Day Scavenger Hunt. Prizes were awarded daily to two participants who solved the puzzle correctly, and one grand prize winner was awarded a Kindle Fire HD. Congratulations to all the winners!
Some of the stone blocks that make up the prehistoric site of Stonehenge in Great Britain weigh up to 25 tons. While the heaviest stones tended to be from closer to their final resting place, some stones weighing several tons were brought from distances as far away as 150 miles to construct the site!
The Society for California Archaeology has signed on as a collaborating organization for International Archaeology Day.
2013's International Archaeology Day sees the return of many collaborating organizations from years past!
