Friday, November 18, 2011 - 9:00am - 7:30pm
Casa del Campesino
Villa Emiliano Zapata, (Carrizal) 91630
This event was created with a double purpose: on the one hand, we aim to gather researchers and specialists on different subjects on South-Central pre-Hispanic cultures. This year we will discuss the Ball Game, from a technical point of view (size, orientation, distribution and cronology of the courts) as well as symbolic, social and political dinamics related to the ritual. On the other hand, as part of a public archaeology approach, the event's venue is El Carrizal's (a small rural community) Casa del Campesino (tenant's house). We strongly believe that taking these kind of conferences to the public, rather than trying to get the local public to the big cities, will contribute on preserving and conserving archaeological sites; as well as it will reinforce the relationship between the communities and their heritage.
There will be 12 different papers presented, by authors such as: Barbara Stark, Patricia Castillo, Annick Daneels, Laura Pescador, Yamile Lira López, Luis Heredia Barrera, among others.
