Commemorate the history of Wickliffe Mounds this October 19th, along with celebrating International Archaeology Day! Wickliffe Mounds archaeological site was first excavated in October 1932, which provided circumstances for decades of educational activities, archaeological, historical and biological research and tourism opportunities for thousands of visitors, scholars and students. Each year, Wickliffe Mounds presents a program dedicated to telling the history and preservation efforts of the site. Historic photos and documents of the 1930’s-60’s will be on display, and guided history hikes of the archaeological site will be available as part of regular museum admission.
