Announcing the AIA’s 2026 Award Winners


The Archaeological Institute of America would like to congratulate the following individuals, projects, and publications for the exemplifying contributions they make to the field of archaeology. They will be formally recognized at the AIA Awards Ceremony, which will take place during the 2026 Annual Meeting on Friday, January 9 at 7:30 PM (PST) at the Hilton San Francisco Union Square. All are welcome to attend the Awards Ceremony.

Anna Marguerite McCann Award for Fieldwork Reports – Michael Lindblom for Lerna X: The Shaft Graves and Other Late Helladic I and II Remains

Conservation and Heritage Management Award – Nancy Odegaard

Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award – Scott H. Pike

Felicia A. Holton Book Award – Tate Paulette for his book In the Land of Ninkasi: A History of Beer in Ancient Mesopotamia

Gold Medal Award for Distinguished Archaeological Achievement – Nancy Thomson de Grummond

Graduate Student Paper Award (2025 Annual Meeting – First Prize) – Sophie Cushman

Graduate Student Paper Award (2025 Annual Meeting – First Prize) – Luke Madson

James R. Wiseman Book Award –  Caitlín Eilís Barrett and Jennifer Carrington for their edited volume Households in Context: Dwelling in Ptolemaic and Roman Egypt

Martha and Artemis Joukowsky Distinguished Service Award – David R. Boochever

Outstanding Public Service Award – Follow the Pots Project led by Morag Kersel, Meredith Chesson, and Chad Hill

Pomerance Award for Scientific Contributions to Archaeology – Richard Evershed, Lucy Cramp, and Mélanie Roffet-Salque of the Organic Geochemistry Unit at the University of Bristol
