Join Dr. Jan Bill, Professor of Viking Age Archaeology and curator of the Viking Ship Collection at the Museum of Cultural History, Oslo, Norway as he comes to New York to share with us his work on the Viking Age, the “North Way” (the sea route along the Norwegian Coast) and the Viking Age ships on display in his Museum. He will also detail how his current research project (the Gokstad find) has unraveled the role Viking Age land-based ship graves played in the creation of the Norwegian Kingdom during the Viking Age.
Dr. Bill will bring the Gokstad find into the forefront of current Viking Age research and share how it will increase its value as cultural heritage.
Following the lecture, there will be a reception featuring a smorgasbord of Norwegian delights accompanied by a selection of fine wines!
