Family Fun with the North Alabama Society

To celebrate and promote National Archaeology Day, the AIA-North Alabama Society co-sponsored an Archaeology Fair teaming up with the Cultural Resources staff at Redstone Arsenal as well as archaeologists from the Tennessee Valley Authority and Tennessee Valley Archaeological Research. The Fair included information about the AIA and local archaeology, there were also learning opportunities and hands-on activities for kids. Following the Archaeology Fair, a local archaeologist gave a lecture entitled, "Archaeology in Huntsville's Backyard: Prehistoric Cultures of the Middle Tennessee Valley."
University of Alaska Anchorage hosted International Archaeology Day on October 19th.
The Northeast Region of the Florida Public Archaeology Network hosted an Archaeology Bar Crawl through downtown St. Augustine in honor of International Archaeology Day.
The Commission to Preserve National Monuments celebrated the International Archaeology Day with a series of events titled "Cultural Memory, a Vanishing Treasure: Archaeological Heritage of BiH."
