National Archaeology Day on Boston Common
October 25, 2011
For National Archaeology Day, members of the AIA headquarters staff spent part of the day on Boston Common celebrating the day with passersby. Over the course of four hours they passed out Archaeology and Dig magazines to passing adults and children, distributed a map of local archaeological sites not included on the popular Freedom Trail, and showed several people how the Ancient Inca used quipu (khipu) as a recording device.
Volunteers are needed to monitor the translations of the International Archaeology Day webpage.
After two years of great success, National Archaeology Day will change to International Archaeology Day for 2013.
The Friends of the Office of State Archaeology in Connecticut acted as a participating partner in National Archaeology Day by sponsoring an Archaeology Fair.
