Dr. Duane Esarey (Illinois State Archaeological Survey) will present a talk entitled 'Untangling the Piasa's Tale: A Revised Interpretation' at the Cahokia Mounds Museum in Collinsville, Illinois. Sponsored by the Cahokia Archaeological Society, the presentation provides new insights into the meaning of the Piasa painted image on the rock bluff at Alton, Illinois. Using recently found documents, Esarey uses a Peoria Indian culture-hero account to decode the long-lost meaning of the Piasa.
