The Mississippi Archaeology Expo is a hands-on family fair for school-age children and adults held during Mississippi Archaeology Month, which is an annual October observance.  The Expo is a day-long special event featuring educational and fun activities for all ages, such as demonstrations of archaeological techniques as well as prehistoric and historic lifeways.  Of special interest this year will be demonstrations by members of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians (MBCI) and Civil War Re-enactors.  Activities will include: Artifact Identification (Bring your artifacts!), Atlatl (Spear) Throwing, Prehistoric Technology Stations, Artifact Displays, Pottery Design/Making, Rock Art Wall, Flintknapping (Stone Tool making), Demonstration Dig for Kids, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR) demonstration, MBCI Tribal Social Dancing & Chanting.
