The Archaeological Research Unit of the University of Cyprus and the Science and Technology in Archaeology Research Center (STARC) of the Cyprus Institute are organising and international conference entitled Infrastructures for Science and Technology for Archaeology and Cultural Heritage in the Eastern Mediterranean.
It will take place in Nicosia, Cyprus, from the 26th - 28th of April 2010.
This conference is the concluding meeting of the project,Science and Technology for Archaeology and Cultural Heritage in the Eastern Mediterranean‚ (STACHEM:), which is funded by the FP7 European Framework program and is coordinated by the Cyprus Institute's Science and Technology in Archaeology Research Center (STARC) (website: http://starc.cyi.ac.cy).
The main aim of this project is the development of a regional strategic plan for research infrastructures devoted to archaeological sciences, digital heritage and underwater archaeology in the Eastern Mediterranean (for more information on the project and its partners please see attached leaflet or visit the following website http://starc.cyi.ac.cy/stachem/stachem).
Presentations and round table discussions will focus on existing infrastructures and practices, identifying capacities and needs, problems and perspectives for the future development of archaeological research in the Eastern Mediterranean and future synergies. Another objective is to foster the exchange of ideas, interaction and coordination of plans among the conference participants and the STACHEM partners.
