The Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago, in partnership with Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, is excavating Tell Keisan (Tel Kison) in Israel — a city of the Bronze and Iron Ages located 9 miles northeast of Haifa. In biblical times, this site was occupied by Phoenicians who had close economic and cultural relations with the Israelites and established colonies around the Mediterranean.

We are now accepting applications from people of all ages to join our team at Tell Keisan for four weeks in the summer of 2019, arriving on June 29 and departing on July 27. This site is located in the beautiful Galilee region of northern Israel. Dig participants will learn archaeological methods, attend evening lectures on ancient history and culture, and take guided tours on weekends to explore the country.
